The aim of the Mobile Library is to bring the joy of reading closer to the community, encouraging active engagement and creativity among all age groups.

Interactive Reading for Kids in German: Stories, Crafts, and Fun by the German Cultural Center
Join us for an engaging children’s reading workshop hosted by our mobile library! This special event is designed to activate and enliven the space around the mobile library, offering a delightful experience for young readers. Our sessions will feature carefully selected books, curated by our expert team, with each reading followed by fun, interactive activities.
For instance, if we read a story about a rabbit, children can participate in creative activities like cutting out or coloring rabbit-themed crafts. These activities are designed to reinforce the themes of the stories and make the reading experience more memorable.
The workshop will be led by dedicated volunteers who are passionate about bringing stories to life for children. We look forward to welcoming young readers and their families to this vibrant community event!

Paper Factory with Catalin
Recycling can be fun! From scraps to sheets, at the Nocrich Scout Center I experimented with recycling paper. That’s how Paper Factory was born, a personal project I developed while volunteering.
Working with pulp and texture allowed me to explore materiality and discover new ways of creating handmade paper.
There are endless ways to create. Whether through natural pigments or by encapsulating a glimpse of nature and landscape, the process can be both playful and deeply meaningful.

Paint a 3D model of the Holzmengen fortified church
In this special workshop, you have the opportunity to discover Holzmengen Fortified Church in a completely new way: by painting your 3D-printed model of the castle! Using brushes and paint, you will bring the digitally recorded cultural heritage to life.
Radu and Raluca are passionate about preserving Transylvanian fortified churches. Their goal: to capture them as they exist today – using state-of-the-art technology, including drone flights, 3D image processing and 3D printing. They make the resulting models accessible online via QR codes – and now you can touch and paint them too!
This workshop combines the past and the future and invites you to become part of preserving our cultural heritage.
Participation is free of charge, but a donation for the association Europäisches Jugendbegegnungszentrum Kirchenburg Holzmengen e.V. (EJBZ) is requested.

The activity is designed to be completed at your own pace, typically taking around 30 to 45 minutes.

This interactive experience not only highlights the cultural heritage of the area but also fosters a deeper connection between the participants and the local community.
After you have filled in your sheets, please leave them at the Info point. We will extract a winner, that will receive a double invitation for next year.

The project has already been carried out in several Central and Eastern European countries. The project in Romania focuses on four young people between the ages of 25 and 33 from different regions of Romania where there is a historical German minority. In the visual portraits, they provide a brief insight into the emotional world of their generation, addressing the question of what role the German language still plays in shaping their identity today, what place it occupies in their everyday lives, and to what extent their own multilingualism is perceived as a valuable and beneficial asset in an increasingly complex Europe.
